A skipped beat of Awakining

 Kyoko had Woken a few days before, but she had hardly met anyone and still had very little clue what was going on. The person she had met first had been more interested in teaching her this Bending stuff than explaining how she could get home, and before she knew it she was alone in a room in something called a Welcome House. With nothing better to do, she might have spent the night making curse dolls....

But when she woke up to find someone had left something in her room the sight was a mix of relief and dread. Relief because she Woke in Setsu's clothing, and that... was not ideal. The clothing that arrived for her... her gift... she had worn it before. It was comfortable in some ways. In other ways, it was armor. 

But...

She reached out and picked up the bright bright pink jumpsuit, so pink that once you see it the colour is forever burned into your retinas. What was the point of being a Love Me member if she was here alone and there was no auditions or studios or work or anything?

She winced, just imagining the president's reaction to that question. Dramatic tears, a long monologue about how she should want to work as a Love Me member to get people to love her, not just to move up in the business. She sighed and looked between the black leather of the pants she was wearing and the toxic pink material she was holding. 

Setsu or Kyoko?

Well... Setsu's soul had kind of fled her the moment she had arrived here so... Kyoko. She started to stand and realized there were things in the pockets of the jump suit. As well as undergarments and a shirt and shorts to wear under, thankfully. She reached into the pocket, holding the suit with one hand and...


Pink material so bright that once you see it you nearly go blind fell to the floor as she looked at what had been in the large pockets. Her heart shaped stamp book and stamp set, of course. Corn. CORN! And.... PRINCESS ROSA!

She sat back down, in perfect hostess style and set everything in her lap. Corn first. She opened the small change pouch and pulled out the blue-ish purple stone and held it to the light. "Corn... I think I'm trapped somewhere weird," she told the stone. Then blinked. And blinked again, starting to grin. Corn, the original owner of this stone... he wasn't from Earth. Maybe this was his world! MAYBE!!!!! MAYBE THIS WAS THE WORLD OF FARIES!!!!! 

Joy sang through her at that thought and she held the stone to her heart, feeling its warmth. Maybe Corn would be here! She put the stone into the pouch, eager to change now, when the small baggie with Princess Rosa touched her hand. She lifted it. The stone had been from Corn, but the jewel set inside the hand made setting on the necklace in the bag was Princess Rosa, born from the Queen Rose that Mr. Tsuruga had given her for her birthday. Natsu's necklace. 

So... she was in the world of Faries, with a powerful talisman from Corn, a necklace that could transform her into Natsu and outfit that could summon Setsu's soul. Her face was going to break if she didn't stop smiling, and she didn't care. She quickly changed into that shockingly pink uniform, with the logo elegantly displayed on the back and to one side of the chest. She put everything but Corn back in her pockets, and grabbed her cellphone from beside the bed, tossing that in too. She wouldn't wear Princess Rosa, not with the Love Me uniform. But Corn... she wanted his stone in hand so he'd recognize her now that she changed. 

She stood and looked in the mirror, then winced and took off Setsu's wig and jewelry. She looked like Kyoko again. But it had been a long time since Corn had seen her, and she'd dyed her hair. So the stone might be how he'd recognize her.

Thrilled with the world and all that was in it, she bounded outside, and headed for the woods, singing, dancing, and making a general spectacle of her self. Once she got to the woods, she threw her arms wide, and yelled to the tree tops. "FARIES! I AM HERE! I'M CORN'S FRIEND! AND I AM HERE TO BECOME A FAIRY AND STAY WITH YOU ALWAYS!!!!!" She looked about 16, she was acting about 6.

She considered that and nodded. "What magic do I need to find to have magical ears, then?"

[younghero]

"Probably just practice your Bending. Or maybe Nautilus will decide everyone has to look like they're from Hyrule and do it for you."

[chicklet]

"Bending?"

[younghero]

"Will-power-based-magic. If you can think of it, you can do it. But---I'd try making things first, before, uh, changing your looks."

[chicklet]

"Making things? Magic? I can learn magic?" She dropped to sit seiza style before him, alert and ready to learn.

[younghero]

Link flashed one of his dorky, nervous smiles. "Yep! You just have to think about what it is you want to make, focus on it, and make it."

Coming from a world where magic was common helped.

"Like, if I wanted to make a bottle of milk? I'd think about the glass, how heavy it feels in my hands, the label and what it looks like, and how the milk smells, tastes, and looks inside the bottle. Then, I just sort of think about all of that at the same time and---milk!" Link proudly held out the bottle of Lon Lon Milk to her.

[chicklet]

"All this wonderful magic, and you use it...for... milk?" she asked, confused.

[younghero]

"I like Lon Lon milk. It tastes good, reminds me of home, reminds me of my friend Malon, and it can heal people."

[chicklet]

"Wait... milk... that can heal people?" Kyoko was now wondering if that could be used to make things like ice cream. An ice cream that heals people... Wouldn't even need a commercial. Which would mean she couldn't audition for it. But it would mean that eating ice cream would be part of her duty as an actress.

Oh! Or better yet, if she could use it for a cream stew base for Mr. Tsuruga.... Given how little he ate, he could use it.

[younghero]

"This type can. And the milk from Termina can too."

[chicklet]

"And if I cook with it?"


Yes, Kyoko changes gears quickly.

[younghero]

"Can you cook with milk?"

[chicklet]

"Of course I can! Most of what I cook is Japanese, but I have learned some international dishes."

[younghero]

"I'm not sure what happens when you cook with it. I've only ever just drank it fresh."

[chicklet]

"If you have a kitchen and a supermarket where I can buy everything else, I could try to make us a cream curry stew."

[younghero]

"Oh, yeah. As long as we're not in the middle of a storm, the store always has everything and anything you could ever want."

[chicklet]

"Alright. I should have just about enough for that then, since apparently the food is complimentary where I am staying?" She wasn't sure. "No one has talked to me about paying rent yet, though. So I'm trying to budget. I'm also trying not to abuse the food offered there, but if we go shopping, I can use that kitchen."

Why was she suddenly thinking about making Owahu Rice? She certainly didn't want to eat it. Was there some challenge here? Oh! finding a job without her agency, maybe?

[younghero]

"Oh, uh, there's no money here. You can stay in a Welcome House as long as you like, and then, you can either try building a house, or try staying in one of the empty buildings that's already here."

[chicklet]

"No.... Money?" she asked, confused. "How do people buy things?" she was so confused. How could she ever afford cosmetics, without money?

[younghero]

"Since people can usually make stuff with their minds, there's no need for it." Hey, Link had thought it was pretty weird too at first. His homeland has money literally in trees, grass, and pots.

[chicklet]

She sat down. "Do.... do most people work, then?" She couldn't see herself not working, but she knew many people if they didn't have to have jobs, wouldn't.

[younghero]

"Some people work. Some people study. I know one guy runs a restaurant. I don't know what the rest of the city does. Kinda depends on what you want."

[chicklet]

"I want to act..." she whispered softly, looking up at the sky. But then she closed her eyes and sighed, seeming to deflate some. "I guess I'll apply for a job at the restaurant."

[younghero]

"If you wanna act, you should act. Nothing's stopping you..."

[chicklet]

"Can you point me at someone who knows where auditions are being held?" she asked, a little eagerly. "I haven't been able to find anything."
